Oh inflammation, you should really start taking me on dates before you show up unannounced. Amirite?!

When I was first diagnosed with Neuromyelitis Optica the key word that was always being used was inflammation. Essentially, NMO is inflammation of the spinal cord and optic nerves. But, unlike common inflammation from exercises or injury, my inflammation is different. Because my body is physically weak (and out of shape) from years of medications, laziness, and triumphs I've become prone to any and all types of inflammation. If you're looking to bust out from pain chain, then look no further. EOs gotcha covered, friend.

When inflammation occurs, chemicals from the body's white blood cells are released into the blood or affected tissues to protect your body from foreign substances. This release of chemicals increases the blood flow to the area of injury or infection, and may result in redness and warmth.

Inflammation sucks. No other way to say it. It's an annoying tug of "hey... you can't do that right now, you hurtin' my friend." Ugh. I don't have time for it. I'm too busy with life to worry about it. I know you are too. While I still keep my medicine mount stocked with that I need, I use it in combination with essential oils to cut down on what put into my body.

Do you deal with inflammation? Are you willing to try these oils and products?

The past year has been quite the experience for my little family. We celebrated Wil coming back from his deployment from (2016/2017). We bought and moved into our first home in March, we've experienced the demands of being a  homeowner, and we said our see you soon back in August as Wil prepared to deploy (again). With all those major events in life it has been difficult for me to sit back and relax.

I constantly feel like I need to be doing something to update our 1998 home, or that I need to be there for friends in a time of need. With Wil being gone, all of the responsibilities fall in my lap and I feel that I am ill prepared. Finding a balance between, working, taking care of my fur-babies, hanging out with friends, and dealing with Neuromyelitis Optica is difficult and I often feel overwhelmed by the end of the week.

Last week I saw an ad for an Angel Card Reading for a girl in my neighborhood and decided that I wanted to have my Angels speak through this woman. I can't quite describe my reasoning behind it other than just wanting to know. She was able to fit me into her schedule on Wednesday evening (yesterday) and hold my reading. For those that are unfamiliar with what an Angel Reading is, it is essentially a medium connecting with your angels to share compassionate guidance and loving support by choosing three cards from her deck. Those three cards represent your past, your present, and your future.

We met at her house where I was greeted with a big smile and warm embrace. We chatted a little over tea before the reading and she explained the process to me and helped me understand what to expect. While she was shuffling the deck before I did, a card slipped out and I grabbed it to give it back to her. She set it aside from the deck and excluded it from the pile.

Our theme was self-care and family. My desires to become a mother is stronger than ever right now, so we primarily focused on a baby. She talked about how our emotions are in direct relation to the environment we put ourselves in.

The three cards that I picked out of the deck were "Knight of Air", "Three of Fire" and "Four of Air". The Four of Air was upside down, meaning it was blocked.

Knight of Air is (intelligent, decisive, idealistic, and tireless) Events that occur with great speed. Take time to carefully review your options. Creative solutions.
This card represented my past. Which set the note for the reading because Wil and I have discussed adoption in the past and how we both are perfectly fine with adopting a child. We' talked about it, set a timeline, but haven't thoroughly followed through with anything or made long term plans. We discussed many options like, IVF, Surrogacy, Foster Care, and adoption, but never had a long-term goal of which path we would use.

Three of Fire is Abundance! Things look good; have patients at this time. Make long term plans.
This card represents my present. My in the now. My daily. My path was set by us setting our heats on becoming a family, now is the time to make these plans into actions and patiently await what will come of this. My past and my present are aligned perfectly and we will need to sit down to figure it all out.

The last card that I drew was upside down, which meant that is was blocked. Which means, my Angels want me to do something in my present in order to move to my future.

Four of Air was blocked, but that card presents my future. The Angels called out to me that it was time to rest or take a vacation and allow more time before making a decision and that meditation may provide answers.
In order for me to be able to take a vacation or rest knowing that my life is on the path my Angels want it to be on I must first tackle whatever is blocking or preventing me me from moving forward.

Now, up until the last card it seemed like my Angels were telling the medium all about my life and where I needed to be. The hard the slipped out was a card that would be key to my reading.

Ten of Fire was the card that slipped out from the deck and was set aside for a later reading. It read too much work. Accept help from others. Life is out of balance and stress related health concerns.
How chilling is that? With the possibility of Hurricane Irma making her way towards Florida there was a lot of uncertainty that stressed me out. In order for me to reach my future (Four of Air) I must master the Ten of Fire.

I thoroughly enjoyed my reading with Jazmin. I learned a lot about what I need to do and was so surprised to know how much my Angels knew about me and what I needed. My things are first. I am going to learn to take time for myself, maybe a monthly pamper session. Something for "me" time. I will work on my stress-related health issues that have been popping up, but knowing that once I begin my self-care routine, that will begin to diminish. Once I've mastered taking time for myself and learning how to balance my life, then I can walk towards my future. In the time being, I am enjoying the cooler weather today, the fact that it will be the weekend soon and I met a new friend in the neighborhood.

For anyone wanting to have their Angel Cards read to them, I highly recommend you speaking with Jazmin at Awaken Reiki. She can also be emailed at: awakenyourvibration@gmail.com or by telephone: (210) 683-9928.

September is Pain Awareness month and this September I want to do something a little different. I want to talk to y'all on a weekly basis about everyday aches and pains, but I wanna show you how invaluable these little bottles of magic (AKA- essential oils) are! We've aimed to target some of the more common types of pain we all know and loathe.

Today we're going to get into the broad spectrum of headaches. There are 4 major headaches we've all experienced at one point in our life and they are: the cluster headache, the tension headache, the migraine headache, and the sinus headache. Ugh.

I'm a migraine girl all the way. When my headaches come on, I know they aren't going to be tension related. They're going to be full-blown, close my eyes in a cold, dark, silenced room until my oils and oxygen kick in.

Here we go....

The Cluster Headache: First, if you are a sufferer of cluster headaches my heart goes out to you. I've never experienced one, but I have friends who live with them. These are on the rare side in comparison to the 3 other types of headaches, but arguably the most severe. My friends say that pure oxygen helps, but rolling Valor, Deep Relief and Frankincense on helps reduce the pain.

The Tension Headache: Ever just have that stressful even in life? Like, starting a new job, having your spouse deployed, or living with a chronic auto-immune disorder? No? Just me? Well, let me tell ya. No bueno. No bueno at all. In fact, I suffer at least 3 tension headaches a week. Yes, week. Panaway, Peppermint and Valor are my go to for this.

The Migraine: Friend, if you suffer from these we need to get oils into your life. I know the crippling effects from migraines and I don't want you to ever be like I was before my essential oils. I would miss work, vomit, try not to cry, and even over-medicate myself to get the pain away until I found a migraine busting combo to use: M-Grain is the bomb.com when it comes to relief and because it have the valued Roman Chamomile essential oil in it *thank you Lord*. This stuff is so good. Like SOOOOOO good. If you want to double up, we recommend using the tension headache protocol or any of the other headache essential oils.

The Sinus Headache: This one is a popular one among the happies in our oily community. Why? Because the seasons are changing and well, ain't no body got time for that. (Especially me, friend). When you're starting to feel the pressure build up behind your sinuses, reach for this busting combo for sweet, sweet, relief! R.C., Deep Relief, and Breathe Again are our go-to oils for this. I know they'll be yours too.

So friend, this is the start of a good week. Hopefully you don't need to use these combos, but if you do... remember, I gotcha back!

September 27th, 2006 @ 07:59 PM I haven't been to school basically all week.
Monday (eyes were going fuzzy/blurry/double vision.)
Tuesday I took my Betaseron injection and had a terrible night.
Today I attempted to go to school, went to 1st period and about 20 minutes of second before my dad picked me up. Cloud-like bubbles in my eye is bothersome. I think I have a lesion there. Something called "optic neuritis". I pray it doesn't last forever, or that I get a lazy eye because of it. That'll ruin my life; not like it's not ruined already from this disease, but lets tack on more.

*insert over-dramatic whiny teenage post*

Tomorrow: MRI @ 9:00am.
Then I'm due for the eye exam. It'll HOPEFULLY tell me if I'll be losing my eye sight.

September 28th, 2006 @ 2:31 PM: I had my MRI this morning at 9:00am. Man, I hate MRIs. I've probably had so many in this short time-frame. I can't even remember.  I see my neurologist later today after he sees all of his patients. I think I'm having that "optic neuritis" and this will solidify my NMO diagnosis from MS or TM...... I hope it's something we can manage and figure out. Eye exam coming up. Time to get this ball started.

September 30th, 2006 @ 11:42 AM: I feel a little bit better today. My eyes are still blurry, but I am managing. I've started to look a life a bit differently. Stop. Take time. Smell those roses. Never give up. My cards being dealt with are pretty crummy, but I must remain strong and positive..... it's all that I have left to myself anyway.

With back to school in full swing we're almost certain the little ones will come down with the crud. Keep your littles healthy with Thieves essential oil this school year so no school is missed and they learn every bit of knowledge.

Thieves Essential Oil is an excellent blend of essential oils that is specifically designed to support the body's natural defenses*. This proprietary essential oil blend was university tested for its cleansing abilities. It includes Eucalyptus radiata essential oil, which may help maintain a healthy respiratory system*.

Did you know that Thieves oil was developed based on the ingredients found in the "Four Thieves Vinegar" or "Marseilles Vinegar"?

The vinegar was first prepared by thieves that worked in the spice industry and robbed graves to generate income in the 15th century.

Thieves essential oil is definitely one of my favorite essential oil blends and I will not leave home without it! A day doesn't go by that I don't use Thieves for something!
Did you know diffusing Thieves Essential Oil can Support a Healthy Immune System and Energize Your Body?

So diffuse it in the home or office year round to promote wellness*! Make sure you keep it handy when you are going on a plane or train. Or if you are going on a road trip with a pack of kids in the car!

Make your own homemade cleaning products or air freshener from Thieves. In a spray, it is fantastic for freshening and elimination odors in rooms, especially the bathroom! I have been known to spray bathrooms at rest stops, airports and horse shows that have Thieves in it. Realtors shouldn’t be without it either!

I think you will love the smell, most people do! Its spicy and earthy aroma is refreshing and hot!
