NAS Pensacola Naval Museum

W and I went with his mother and step-father to visit the National Museum of Naval Aviation on NAS Pensacola Base in Pensacola, FL. Go Navy! Hooyah!

Pensacola is about an hour drive west of Fort Walton Beach and boasts more things to do in a military town. If you haven't been to this museum I strongly urge you to make the trip sometime during your lifetime to see all the spectacular displays they have to offer. W is a Navy Veteran and he and I met while he was stationed at NAS Jacksonville. I'm more of a shopping, beach, reading kind of girl and W is more of a military history, military in general, video ing type of guy. So  I was very surprised that I had a lot of fun exploring the many different eras of our Navy and the many different planes.

There is so much to do for everyone: a great gift shop, a fantastic library and gallery and a stellar IMAX theater. Everything was free (accept the IMAX experience) and any additional rides or gifts, but there is so much to learn about.

Plan on arriving early in the morning as it can get very crowded towards mid morning and afternoon. Also make sure that you have your state drivers license, ID, military ID or government issued ID as you will need it to get into the national Museum of Naval Aviation.  There was a little restaurant inside of the museum, however, there was a 45 minute wait and all the food looked fried.

Instead we decided to eat dinner in Fort Walton Beach. We all decided on a place called the Shrimp Basket and enjoyed it so much!

What are your favorite things to do in Pensacola?
