Taking Care of Yourself: Chronic Illness

This week was a reminder that I need to take care of myself. I had several episodes of tonic spasms in my feet, and the familiar unpleasant numb and tingly feeling in my toes. With the stress of moving from our apartment and into our home, and working 40+ hours a week, and unpacking slowly I allowed myself to become a Hot Mess.

Last April I signed up for a monthly program with Massage Envy that allowed me to receive 1 free massage each month. At the start of the new year, I started focusing on my friendships and my overall wellness with essential oils and I completely forgot about my free massages (or facials). On Monday morning I called my local Massage Envy to schedule a massage appointment and facial.

In my 3 hours there I was reminded of how essential it is to take care of ourselves, especially those with a chronic illness. A simple mid-day nap, or shower/bath can benefit your overall wellbeing dramatically. This inspired me to make my own Sleep Cream with my essential oils.

Sleep Cream Ingredients:
1 cup of organic coconut oil
6 - 12 drops of each Young Living Essential Oil: Lavender, Peace & Calming, Cedarwood, and Valor

Sleep Cream Instructions:
Whip the coconut oil and then add the Young Living Essential Oils and mix together for 1-3 minutes. Store in glass container.

Apply a small amount to the bottoms of your feet to promote sleepiness and relaxation.
