Self-Care Is Important to Our Wellness

When I started this blog, I didn't really know what to expect and kind of still don't know. Something that I do know, is that I enjoy using this platform to reach family and friends afar that I don't get to connect with on a regular basis. This blog has allowed me to share with you my love for my husband, our travels, my struggles of living with Neuromyelitis Optica, my love for all things essential oils and my overall happiness for life.

Today, I want to share with you something that I recently had to learn and implement in my daily life: self care and wellness. It's so easy to be consumed by our lives that we forget to take care of our number one priority: ourselves. Between juggling a family, working, going to school, creating your side hustle empire and having a social life there is little room for us. We work all day long to please others, but when do we take care of ourselves? I focused so much on everything around me that I forgot to take care of me. I was crumbling in my self confidence, but boosting the confidence of others all around me. It wasn't until my Angel Card Reading did I realize that I needed to take care of me.

Naturally this led me to embark on a wellness journey for myself and this is what I discovered:

1. Set aside 10-15 minutes for daily meditation. I like to do this while I let my dogs outside before work. The time I spend on my yoga mat in my office with Frank diffusing is such a grounding experience. I was never a person to sit a meditate, I always felt like I needed to get 15 other tasks completed instead of taking a time to relax on the floor. After completing my first week, it became as natural as waking up and brushing your teeth in the morning. Meditation trains the mind in ways that enhance mood, emotional resiliency, and even immune system functioning.

2. Eat well. This is a no brainer, and even I am flawed at this. But, I notice I always feel the best after a nutritious balanced meal. The saying you are what you eat is true, but I understand if you want those tacos, girlfriend. Because I do too and tacos are everything.

3. Look into a monthly massage membership. Friends, this one is a great little pick-me-up. Not only do you receive the amazing benefits of a massage, but you get to relax, have someone work all your knots and aches out. This was the second best investment that I made in myself. I called local day spas and massage parlors for the best option that fit my price range. I have not been disappointed.

4. The amazing properties of essential oils. Okay, I know you all know that my love and passion for Young Living essential oils is deep. Like really, really, really deep. But I need to tell you that it was the hands down BEST investment that I've ever made for myself. EVER. Why? Because now I have an alternative to the toxins and chemicals in my life. I now can choose what I want to diffuse, apply topically or cook with. If I need a pep in my step, Peppermint and Lemon are my go to oils in the diffuser, but En-R-Gee will be applied to the bottoms of my feet. If I am looking for a grounding oils, Frankincense is the best around. If I want to calm down, Lavender is my go-to. Seriously, these oils do so much. I could chat all day about these oils, but I will spare you

5. Explore. Travel. Visit. Do something fun once a year. Visit a new city, state, country! Indulge in learning something new about where you're visiting and share with all of your friends and family. Did you know that cruises are relatively cheap? You get food, activities/fun, a room and to explore different ports! How amazing is that? I love to go on a week vacation every year, it gives me time to pause from my everyday hectic life and not have to worry about anything. I get to relax and enjoy my time with my hubby.

Whatever you choose to do to implement your self-care and wellness, do it with your entire heart. You are worthy of celebrating yourself. You deserve to treat yourself, pamper yourself, invest in yourself. Find what makes your batteries recharge and then go for it. The possibilities are endless.
