My Diagnosis- Blogs October 2006

October 1, 2006 @ 7:59PM: I didn't go to school at all last week. This disease sucks.
Monday- eyes were really blurry/fuzzy/double vision
Tuesday- I took my Betaseron injection and had a night from hell.
Wednesday- I attempted to go to school, went to 1st period and about 20 minutes of 2nd period before my dad picked me up.
Thursday- I have the cloud-like stuff in my eyes and it was difficult for me to see anything.
Friday- I laid in bed all day.

Fast forward to this weekend-- still not feeling well. Going to see if there is something that we can discuss about me missing school and see if there is something that I can do to help get caught up. I pray this doesn't last forever. Or that I get a lazy eye because of it (spoiler alert: I did)

Tomorrow I have a MRI @ 9:00am, then I have an eye exam following the MRI. Let's hope it goes well.

October 2, 2006 @ 6:42PM: Happy Monday! I had my MRI this morning I also got to see my neurologist and I saw a friend, Aldijana as well. She mas MS (Multiple Sclerosis). She's not feeling too well right now. I wish there was something that I could do to help her feel better. She's in a wheelchair.

Dr. Kantor officially approved me to be in a program called Hospital Home-bound. It is a program for students still in school to complete their work via telephone at home. This will be the best option for me. I call into the classroom, listen, participate, and complete assignments at home while receiving the treatment that I need. I hope it's a good fit for me, at least I don't have to go back to school where the kids make fun of me or think that I am contagious. :-(

I'm on some high dose steroids right now. They have me feeling like a rage monster. Yuck! Look like I will be admitted into the hospital for some serious roids... well, here it goes:

Tuesday- Steroids
Wednesday- Steroids
Thursday- Chemotherapy & Steroids
Friday- Last dose of steroids.. hopefully discharged from hospital.

October 8, 2006 @ 3:42AM: Steroids and Insomnia go together like PB&J. I'm up again and it's like 3:30am. I have this very sharp shooting pain in back back. I'm not too sure where it came from. Is is from my disease? Is it from my steroids? Is it from my medications? I don't know. I do know that it hurts. Hurts like hell and I am not okay with it.

October 10, 2006 @ 4:47PM: I had my first day of Hospital Home-bound today. It was interesting. I didn't realize how many other kids my age were sick also. There's this one girl in the class that has really bad kidney failure and is awaiting a transplant in the hospital. She's been in there for a while and didn't think she would live to graduate. It was sad to hear the others talk about their illness as well. I'm really hoping that Florida decides to cool down for one.

It is a day when everything may appear better than it is. Looking at the world through rose-colored glasses, however, doesn't mean that anything in particular is really bad. It's just more important than ever to remember it's better to face the music now, instead of escaping into denial. Dealing with the truth is surely easier than feeding an illusion until it's too late.

October 12, 2006 @ 3:13PM: Hospital home-bound today!

You have chased your share of rainbows looking for the elusive pot of gold and you are tired of being disappointed. This is a critical point and you must make something happen, as this is not just about dreaming of your next possible adventure. Choose cautiously and wisely. Although change is in the air, nothing will transform unless you set realistic goals and then formulate concrete plans.

October 27, 2006 @ 7:04PM: I feel like giving up almost every night. I'm tired of living with this horrible disease. I found out that I am 1 out of 100,000 people in the world with this disease. 1 out of 100,000! THE ENTIRE WORLD.
